Hi, everybody. I hope you're having a great day. It is 33 degrees out right now, so I'm a little chilly, but I just thought this would be a great spot to have an organizing talk with you. And today, I am going to go over one of the most important things. Why is having a system so important?
At the end of the day, why do we need a system? This might be one of the most important questions yet, and I need to hold my coffee because my hands are frozen. There is so much that goes on all day long. There there are so many thoughts that go through our brains. It's just oftentimes ping ponging back and forth.
Who's overwhelmed with work or stressed with something in their relationship, or or it could be good things too, but there's just we have a lot going on in life, our relationships, our career, our children, everything. And so the last thing that we want taking up mental space in our life is decisions around clutter. That is why systems are so important. It takes out the thought process. Just to give you an example, I'm gonna give you a few.
I have a little tray when I first walk into my apartment. It is ingrained into my head. It has become such a daily habit. That is where I put my keys and my sunglasses every single day. When I walk into the apartment, they go in there, and when I leave.
I've never lost my keys. I've never stressed about it. It's just there. That is a system that is put in place. When it comes to your closet with modular closets, when you have a system in your pantry, you're not looking for the items that you need.
You just see it. Right? It takes out the thought process. When you have your modular closet in your bedroom, it takes out the thought process of trying to figure out what to wear. You'd still have to think about what to wear, but it makes it easier.
And you put it on your ballet rod, and you're good for the day. It takes out the thought process of these these extra thoughts, extra clutter, extra mind chatter, and extra stress. It's really, really important to have a system because they become habits, and sometimes it takes time to develop that, but, honestly, not that long. That system that I have with my keys, it was pretty much set in stone after a week and never went back. And same thing with my closet.
I know exactly where my jackets are. I know how they're arranged. I know where my sweaters are. I know that in my modular closet drawers, I have my t shirts. I have I know where my double hanging is.
I know where my blazers are. There's been times where I've had a last minute meeting or I gotta run out and I know where my blazer is. Right? That is why it's so important to have a system. And for those that have children and families, I worked with a client where we did the entry hall closet with modular closets.
And I remember thinking to myself, wow, what an impact and what a system that made in their life. Because as they were running out the door, now their jackets were right there, and they had the modular closet drawers. And in them, they had their hats and their scarves, and they also had all their catchalls, so if they needed an extra hair tie, a brush, ChapStick, things like that. That system was set in place for a reason right by the door, by their entryway closet, and it made their life so much better. Having a system, it changes everything, and it really, really takes out that that mental stress, mental chatter, mental clutter.
Having a system, game changer. Happy organizing everybody. Follow Christina's corner for more tips and tricks, how to get organized.
